  1. What are the strengths and weaknesses of the Google Site?
    Strengths:
Your use of pictures enhances the site.
I like how you included how some students may feel unsettled due to the lack of specifics when using PLEs. I have many students who just want to know what you want them to do, and a PLE would make them nervous.
Great quote: “Our understanding of learning has expanded at a rate that has far outpaced our conceptions of teaching. A growing appreciation for the porous boundaries between the classroom and life experience…has created not only promising changes but also disruptive moments in teaching.” (Morrison, 2013, pg.1)
I love that you included your own PLEs.
    Weaknesses
Maybe you can write a short sentence about what each link is on your PLE examples page.
Did you include a way for educators to assess your workshop?? Did I miss that?

What questions, concerns, or comments do you have about this topic?
I love the idea of PLEs with structure. I think too many times, teachers don’t provide enough structure the first time they try them, as they may be learning too. That is a benefit too, however. Teachers are often learning to use these in tandem with their students. That is a great example of lifelong learning.

    1. Thanks so much! I will add descriptions of the PLEs for sure. There is a link to a Google survey of the workshop...but I'll make sure you can see it since you didn't find it. :)

  2. Nice job on the organization of the Site. I had problems with organizing it for some reason. I think PLEs are the future of education and your site will prove to be vital in years to come. It was smooth to view and find information.

The one thing that I am worried about is that PLEs require the student to be mature with their education. In other words, students need to be serious and motivated with their learning. How can this be done when students do not have the maturity level to be in a PLE?

  3. Thanks, Joe! I think it will take some getting used to for the kids for sure. That's why I suggested one specific topic along with a rubric. If you watch the one 7th grade PLE video that I highlighted, you will be amazed! I'm sure she's an excellent student, but still, for her maturity level, she was doing amazing research! I believe once they see the value in it, they will treat it with respect. In the one article I cited, the teacher did state that they hadn't had many discipline problems regarding using PLEs because students were so excited about it, they didn't want to ruin it.

  4. What are the strengths and weaknesses of the Google Site?
I love the PLE on PLEs. I believe providing a specific example of the PLE will give the participants a better understanding of this tool. Also, the student testimonials add another level of connection for participants. As a teacher, I am always looking for new tools to integration into my classroom to engage students. The testimonial gave me confidence in PLEs. I do not really see any weaknesses. Maybe more visuals on your pages?

What questions, concerns, or comments do you have about this topic?
I love the idea of PLEs! However, I believe that implementing this in my district would create much push back from many teachers. How do you think we could get everyone on board with this initiative?

  5. Strengths
    • This was a very informative and educational workshop. You have provided us with all of the basic knowledge, examples, and information about PLE's.

    Weakness:
    • You could provide information as to what the user will find under each link in the PLE Example page.
    • Missing workshop activity evaluation

    Suggestions

    • Maybe add a few more pictures and videos throughout your presentation (example-- place a picture on your What is a PLE? page to break up the text

  6. STRENGTHS: I like that there are hyperlinks to all of the resources you mentioned within each page, such as Symbaloo and Youtube videos. I really like your PD activity. It is unique and I think Symbaloo will be a resource that not many teachers have used. It will be convenient for both students and teachers to use and access.

WEAKNESSES: Maybe you could add a few more pictures or embed the Youtube videos instead of posting the links to add to the visual aspects of your site.

    Comments:
I think it would be nice if the body text was a little bigger in the body text areas. I would also take away the comments section at the bottom of each page if possible since it doesn't appear that viewers can leave comments.

  7. Strengths: The information is organized, easy to follow, and very helpful to portray PLE's in the classroom. The activity seems very relevant and engaging.

Weaknesses: You could add some images in between some of the more lengthy sections, like the "what is a PLE" tab.

Comments: Some of the text was very small and hard to read. Did you have an evaluation of you PD Workshop?
